actually they are a start up! and since this is a low budget site I am not thinking too much into design aspect!

anyways, they have a functional site, so perhaps later will do a proper version when they kick off!

What is the price range for you to design a website of this size and features?

I usually concentrate more on coding than the designs, to mean more like web applications. So my prices are little higher than in the market or what it look from outside. Anyways a typical web design project of this nature is within the range of $1k to $2k. Anything below $1k, as a standard, I usually avoid or if interesting enough do it free!

Most are just done as a passion (as a hobby, the coding part) more than a business! So my usual business projects are in the range of above $3k. Largest so far is $25k. Since most clients will pay in installments and web design being intangible, payments and justifications are hard to regulate with tough negotiations. Rarely dependable as a source of income…

I hope I answered your question and I wonder what is your interest? Are you a designer or looking for a designer?

I am thinking of going into web designing as a career. Just wondering what kind of degree programme I should go for. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks for your answer.

As far as education is concerned you are asking the wrong guy!

As for full-time web design is a good business if you can get clients and if you think you are good at it. If you can code, it is an added bonus. I run a design firm, if you can prove yourself, I do give opportunity for both work from home and/or office for web designers. For designers pay is mostly on per project basis. Plans are underway to expand this November, so let me know if interested!

Nice work, you could improve the overall design by doing minor changes to CSS file.
